In this session, teachers will learn beginner level fabric appliqué and hand embroidery techniques to create an embellished tote bag. All materials are provided, please RSVP to help us prepare.
Bianca Springer is a renowned embroidery artist and the author of the inclusive embroidery book “Represent! Embroidery Stitch 10 Colorful Projects & 100 Designs Featuring a Full Range of Shapes, Skin Tones & Hair Textures”. She founded the brand ‘Thanks! I Made Them, Sew Can You’ and is an innovator of tailoring and embroidery notions designed to improve the sewing experience. Her stunning embroidery work and upcycled textile garments have been featured in several publications, including What Women Create, Simply Sewing, Love Patchwork and Quilting and Love Embroidery Magazine. She has also contributed her insights and creativity to Sew News Magazine and Creative Machine Embroidery Magazine.
Bianca has shared her expertise as an instructor at prestigious events such as QuiltCon, the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham UK, the Embroiderers' Guild of the UK, the Woodlawn and Frank Lloyd Wright Pope-Leighey House, Sew Creative Lounge, Gathering of Stitches Retreat and Sacred Makers Soul Retreat. She currently resides in Pearland, TX where she offers private sewing instruction to further inspire and educate the fiber arts community.
Free Creative Workshops for Educators
The Skillshare program provides free, open-format arts workshops to Houston area educators led by professional artists. These workshops provide teachers with a space to share resources, engage in creative development, and explore ways to integrate visual arts into classroom curriculum.
Workshops are held every month on a Friday evening here on site at Art League Houston. Snacks and all materials are provided.
